INTRODUCTION
Dual Isam was originally written in Urdu as “Dou Islam” by Dr. Barq. Although it
was first published in 1949, the significance of this concise book is increasingly
important today. This book commands cautious circulation in Pakistan since it
identifies the real, but emotionally sensitive, cause of the global decline of
Muslims.

Dr. Shabbir Ahmed, an author of 38 Urdu and English books, is an original writer

( A LIFE SKETCH ) It gives me a great pleasure to compile this page as I personally am a proud student and admirer of Pervaiz. Indeed, he was a great scholar of this century. His understanding of Quran and Sunna is more practical and useful in solving the problems of Muslim Ummah in particular and mankind at large. He has intelligently analyzed these problems and found their solutions in the light of Quran and Sunna.

ABU-HURAYRA AND THE SHAPING OF TRADITIONAL ISLAM !

Many Muslims and non-Muslims who study Islam are overwhelmed by the number of
Ahadiths narrated by or attributed to Abu Hurayra. The corruption that entered traditional
Islam came through many false hadiths. Thousands of these hadiths were narrated by Abu Hurayra. Next to QURAN, the word of God, Abu Hurayra is the second source for many religious matters for traditional Muslims.

Who is Abu Hurayra any way ?

In spite of volumes of literature on the subject, a vast majority of Muslims -young and old–are ignorant of Islamic history. Yet, the importance of the knowledge of history cannot be overemphasized. According to Allama Iqbal, history is like long-termmemory where the voices of nations are preserved. So a people without knowledge ofhistory are apeople without memory. And people who cannot remember, obviously,cannot benefitfrom the lessons of history.The Quran demands that Muslims reflect upon history, not merely to know it but to learn from it.

The prevalent principles of Islamic jurisprudence were established by individuals who did not have political or official authority. The rule of the day was an anti-Quranic autocratic system. The laws adopted, if at all, were only those considered Ĺsafeĺ by the rulers. On top of that, a number of anti-Quranic laws were declared to be Islamic. Their anti-Quranic basis can be seen even today....

The title of this article is based on one of the most favourite quotes from the Qur’an that the traditionalists like to isolate and take totally out of context. Even though there are quite a few verses in the Qur’an which mention things such as:
"Obey Allah and obey His messenger."
