Muslims are taught that the Prophet Mohammed brought the Quran with him as well as his sayings "Hadith" and actions "Sunna". The Muslims believe that these pillars are inseparable and that Islam cannot stand at all if any of these pillars are taken out.

"Do not accept anything that you have no knowledge of. Surely the hearing, the sight and the mind you are responsible for." (Quran, 17:36)

In spite of volumes of literature on the subject, a vast majority of Muslims young and old–are ignorant of Islamic history. Yet, the importance of the knowledge of history cannot be over emphasized. According to Allama Iqbal, history is like long-termmemorywhere the voices of nations are preserved. So a people without knowledge ofhistory are apeople without memory. And people who cannot remember, obviously,cannot benefitfrom the lessons of history.

These have become the most dreaded three words that any Muslim woman can hear in her lifetime, for they signify not only the end of her marriage, but a hard and difficult road ahead where she has to re-build her entire life when the only foundation she has spent years building has just fallen away.
Can it really be so simple!
Can years of building, sharing and loving be shattered beyond repair by the mere utterance of words?.

How many times have you heard this phrase:

"This is Haram, That is Halal"!

If you are a Muslim, then you probably hear these words repeated around you every day. You will hear them in school, you will hear them on TV, you will hear your parents say them, you will hear scholars and Imams say them, and, you will find tons of books written on the subject.

You don't believe me?

Just click on any of the traditional Islamic Web Sites and read any Q&A or Fatwa section they may have. You should find something like this:

Muslim scholars and the entire Muslim world will tell us that prophet Mohammed was an illiterate man who could not read or write. They tell you this information to make the miracle of the Quran sound even more miraculous disregarding that such statements create some obvious questions:

- According to historians, the prophet Mohammed encouraged his followers to learn to read and write and teach others the same so as to spread knowledge throughout the world. How is it that a man who led by example never learnt to read and write himself?.
